Laminate Countertops

In the sixties and seventies, just about every kitchen had laminate counters.  At the time, you only had the choice of some basic colors.  Today, laminates are a very viable choice, given the many colors and patterns available.  Some of the popular laminate manufacturers are Formica, Nevamar, and Pionite.

Laminate countertops are a wonderful way to keep down the cost on a limited budget.  Consider using laminate counters on the perimeter cabinets, and granite or quartz on the island.  Be careful when mixing these two materials together.  One of them should be just a solid color, so as not to clash two different patterns.  Also keep in mind if you are on a limited budget that you can use laminate, and then you can always go back and install granite or quartz directly over the laminate at a later date. No maintenance is required for laminate.
